Suriya’s Karuppu Roars At Box Office, Crosses Rs 66 Crore Worldwide In Just 2 Days
Suriya’s latest release, Karuppu, is rapidly turning into one of the biggest box office success stories of the year. Directed by RJ Balaji , the fantasy courtroom drama witnessed an impressive jump in collections on its second day, signalling strong audience acceptance and growing word of mouth across markets.
After opening on a solid note, the film showed remarkable growth on Saturday by collecting nearly Rs 23.40 crore in India net collections, marking a sharp 51% rise compared to its opening day figures. Within just two days, the film has already amassed around Rs 66.04 crore worldwide , placing it firmly among the major Tamil blockbusters of 2026.
The film’s strongest performance continues to come from Tamil Nadu , where packed evening and night shows reflected the excitement surrounding the film. Audience occupancy reportedly crossed the 80 percent mark during late night screenings in several centres, highlighting the strong public response. The Tamil version alone contributed the lion’s share of earnings, while the Telugu dubbed version also delivered respectable numbers.
Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film performed steadily in Karnataka , Kerala , and other southern territories. Overseas markets too have responded positively, with international collections crossing Rs 21 crore within two days. Trade analysts believe the film’s weekend momentum could push it into an even stronger position by the end of Sunday.
A major reason behind the film’s success appears to be its unique blend of courtroom drama, fantasy, emotion, and commercial mass appeal. The story revolves around a legal battle involving a helpless father and daughter, with Suriya playing the mysterious and powerful Vettai Karuppu , a deity forced to function within human limitations. The emotional conflict combined with strong dramatic moments has struck a chord with audiences.
Alongside Suriya, Trisha Krishnan has also received appreciation for her performance as an honest lawyer fighting against a corrupt system. Supporting actors including Indrans , Anagha Maaya Ravi , and Natty Subramaniam add depth to the narrative.
With strong weekend occupancy, positive audience reactions, and growing buzz across regions, Karuppu appears set for an impressive theatrical run in the coming days.
