Suriya 47: Jithu Madhavan’s Cop Drama to Feature Fahadh Faasil in a Power Packed Role

After his recent appearance in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro , Tamil cinema star Suriya is currently immersed in shooting his 46th film under Venky Atluri’s direction in Hyderabad. Amid this, an exciting update has emerged regarding his next project.

Jithu Madhavan, the director behind Fahadh Faasil’s hit Aavesham , is in talks to helm Suriya’s 47th film. While the project is still in its preliminary stages, Jithu has confirmed ongoing discussions but refrained from sharing further details. Interestingly, the director had initially considered Dulquer Salmaan for the role, but for reasons undisclosed, the project has now landed with Suriya, raising anticipation.

Jithu made a remarkable debut in 2023 with the horror-comedy Romancham , starring Soubin Shahir, and followed it up with the blockbuster Aavesham . The latter, centered on three college friends who befriend a gangster to settle scores with their bullies, grossed over ₹150 crore in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, cementing Jithu’s reputation. In Suriya47 , Fahadh Faasil is reportedly set to play a pivotal antagonistic role, while Suriya will portray a police officer, with Nazriya cast as the female lead. Fahadh’s villainous turn in Pushpa: The Rise earned him widespread acclaim, though his role in Pushpa 2 faced criticism for being underutilized. Malayalam audiences, however, have strong faith in Jithu’s directorial prowess.

Meanwhile, Suriya’s 46th film, featuring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, is being planned for a swift three-month shoot. The actor is also working on his 45th film with director-actor RJ Balaji.

Jithu Madhavan had previously planned a project with Mohanlal, but it was shelved. He is now scripting a new film for Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram, backed by Jana Nayagan producers KVN Productions and Thespian Films.
