Supreme Court Warns Public Against Fake Website Impersonating Its Official Portal
The Supreme Court Registry on Tuesday issued a fresh public advisory warning citizens against a fraudulent website impersonating the apex court's official portal and cautioned them against sharing personal, financial or confidential information.
The Registry identified the fake domain scigovinjudicial.com, stating that it was impersonating the Supreme Court of India's official online presence with the intention of defrauding users through targeted phishing attempts.
In its notice, the Registry said the fraudulent website could be used by cybercriminals to solicit sensitive personal information and confidential credentials from unsuspecting visitors.
It strictly cautioned all stakeholders against divulging any personal or financial details through the website, warning that such disclosures could facilitate data theft and unauthorised access.
The Registry advised users to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of electronic communications and website addresses before engaging with them.
Clarifying the distinction between the fraudulent portal and its official website, the Supreme Court said its registered domain is sci.gov.in. It also encouraged users to verify URLs by hovering over links before clicking on them or providing any information.
The advisory further stated that individuals who suspect they have fallen victim to the phishing attempt should immediately change passwords for all their online accounts and inform their respective banks about any suspected unauthorized access.
The latest warning follows a series of similar public notices issued by the Supreme Court Registry on July 16, 2025, April 28, 2026, and August 13, 2026, regarding fake websites designed to replicate the apex court's official portal.
The Registry said the deceptive websites were intended to mislead the public and extract sensitive information, urging all stakeholders to exercise caution while accessing online judicial services.
