Success Comes Only by Demonstrating Distinction: HYDRA Commissioner
HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath called upon newly selected Group-1 officers to distinguish themselves in their duties and work with public interest as their ultimate goal . He was addressing Group-1 cadre officers undergoing training at the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute on Friday.
He stated that officers, who have reached this level through great effort, must work with dedication in their respective departments and deliver good governance . Every action should be transparent , with public welfare always at the centre. He noted that creating full awareness among the public would make administration easier and also earn their support.
Explaining the challenges faced during the initial phase of HYDRA, Ranganath said the organisation initially faced significant negative perception , but the situation has now improved. While there was 70% negativity at the beginning , it has now shifted to 85% positive public opinion . This, he said, was achieved through clear communication and delivering visible results at the ground level .
He emphasised that it is not enough to merely frame laws; focus must also be on their effective implementation . Earlier, even when violations were evident, action was often not taken, but HYDRA has changed this approach. He explained that initiatives such as restoration of lakes , removal of encroachments , and cleaning of drainage canals have helped reduce the risk of urban flooding .
Ranganath advised officers to engage closely with people, understand their problems, and resolve them, which would make governance more effective. Platforms like Prajavani were cited as useful in this regard. He concluded that if officers discharge their responsibilities with commitment, each one can create a new benchmark in their respective departments .
