
Sub Junior Women’s Hockey: Chandigarh, Karnataka, Mizoram, Haryana Triumph
Chandigarh and Karnataka secured wins in their Division B matches, while Mizoram , Haryana , Odisha , and Jharkhand triumphed in Division A games at the Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship here on Monday.
In Division B, Pool A , Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu defeated the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 1-0, with Anushka Gupta scoring the lone goal in the 41st minute. Chandigarh dominated Hockey Himachal 4-1 in Pool B, Division B , thanks to a hat-trick from Annu (7', 14', 52') and a goal from Rani Radha (42'). Karnataka registered a commanding 6-1 victory over Gujarat in the same pool, with goals from M M Thaniya (2'), S M Kusumanjali (19'), Pretti Neelaraddi (22'), Huggennavar Basamma Shivappa (26'), and K P Sinchana (20', 52'). Parvatiben Gamar scored for Gujarat in the 31st minute.
In Division A, Pool D , Mizoram overcame Chhattisgarh 2-1, with K Vanlalpeki scoring both goals (14', 41'), while Manpreet Kaur scored for Chhattisgarh in the 27th minute. In Pool C , Hockey Haryana defeated Manipur Hockey 4-2, with goals by Radhika (12'), Diya (18'), Vishakha (42'), and Antika (44'). For Manipur, Tongbram Reenu Devi (5') and captain Devi Moirangthem Prinja (6') found the net.
These results underline the emerging talent in India’s sub junior women’s hockey circuit. Teams now look forward to the knockout stages, with strong performances from Chandigarh and Karnataka in Division B and consistent displays by Mizoram and Haryana in Division A setting the tone for an exciting championship ahead.
