
Students, The Next Nation Builders: Governor Jitendra Dev Verma
The iVision Youth Parliament–2025 Grand Finale was held with great pomp on Saturday at BJR Bhavan, Banjara Hills. Telangana Governor, Dr. Jitendra Dev Verma , graced the occasion as the chief guest and addressed the participating students. The event was organized under the leadership of Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari , with the support of the district administration, as part of an innovative civic education initiative for school students.
Students as Future Leaders
In his address, the Governor praised the students for their active participation, describing them as future leaders capable of driving change . He highlighted that parliaments and state legislatures are the highest democratic institutions shaping the country’s future. Emphasizing the importance of experiential learning, he urged students to go beyond textbook knowledge and engage in initiatives like the Youth Parliament, in line with the National Education Policy .
Governor Appreciates Student White Paper
The Governor lauded the white paper prepared by students , noting that it reflected the aspirations of the current generation for the future. He appreciated the students’ analysis of contemporary issues related to governance and development. Particularly noting that 80% of participants were girls , he observed this as a silent revolution in women’s empowerment in India , reflecting growing confidence and leadership skills among youth. The white paper was praised as a collective vision of students for Vision–2047 , showcasing meaningful experiential learning outcomes.
Youth Role in Politics
Ponnam Prabhakar , Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, emphasized that strengthening democracy requires educated youth to enter politics . He noted that programs like Youth Parliament and Model UN provide students with basic understanding of legislative processes and should be conducted across all districts of Telangana.
Classroom as a Democracy Lab
The District Collector explained that the iVision Youth Parliament was designed not just to stay confined to classroom boards but to develop students’ debating, analytical, and leadership skills . Over 2,000 students from 183 government and 50 private schools in Hyderabad district participated, sharing their ideas on how India should look by 2047.
The Collector also praised students’ discipline, decorum, and adherence to parliamentary procedures in simulation exercises, including Telangana Legislative Assembly mock sessions aligned with Vision–2047, and Model United Nations sessions focused on Sustainable Development Goals. She highlighted that such experiential programs play a key role in nurturing informed citizenship and strengthening the democratic future .
During the event, the Governor presented awards and certificates to outstanding students , with other dignitaries, including District Education Officer Rohini , in attendance.
