Strong start for Pranavi, others trail

Pranavi Urs emerged as the standout performer among Indian golfers on the opening day of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, posting a one-under 70 to be tied 23rd. Her steady play and timely birdies set the tone for a promising start to the tournament.

Pranavi’s round began on the front nine, which was largely uneventful. She found her rhythm on the back nine, carding a birdie on the 10th, dropping a shot on the 11th, and bouncing back immediately with another birdie on the 12th. She parred the remaining holes to finish with a solid score, placing herself ahead of her compatriots.

The other Indians had a tougher day. Diksha Dagar, starting on the front nine, dropped shots on the fifth and seventh holes but recovered with a birdie on the ninth. Despite a strong back nine that included a birdie on the 12th, a late bogey on the 17th left her one-over 72, tied 54th. Avani Prashanth struggled with four bogeys and two birdies, ending tied 70th with a 73. Tvesa Malik also had a challenging day, managing just one birdie against four bogeys to finish tied 82nd with 74.

The leaderboard was dominated by Italy’s Alessia Nobilio, who fired a bogey-free six-under 65. Germany’s Helen Briem followed closely at five-under 66 after six birdies and one bogey. A cluster of players including Ayako Uehara, Kirsten Rudgeley, Ariane Klotz, Lydia Hall, and Charlotte Liautier shared third place with four-under 67.

As the tournament progresses, Pranavi will look to build on her steady start, while her fellow Indians aim to climb the leaderboard in the challenging French conditions.
