Stay Alert on Voter List Revision Drive: Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy
YSR Congress Party State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has called on party leaders and workers to stay alert during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, warning against the possible removal of genuine voters from electoral rolls.
During an online review meeting held on Thursday with regional coordinators, district presidents, MLAs and state functionaries, Sajjala stressed that party representatives in all 175 Assembly constituencies must develop thorough technical knowledge of the voter list revision process. He asked leaders to closely track developments at the grassroots level and ensure that supporters of the party are not unfairly deleted from the rolls.
Referring to similar exercises conducted in states such as West Bengal and Tamil Nadu , he claimed that large-scale voter deletions had taken place in the past. He cautioned that YSRCP supporters could face similar targeting and noted that restoring deleted votes is often a difficult process.
Sajjala instructed Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to improve their technical expertise and remain in regular coordination with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He also announced that the party would set up a special control room at its central office and organise orientation programmes to train BLAs on handling the revision process effectively.
The YSRCP leader said the electoral roll revision exercise, which first began in Bihar , is now being implemented in several states and Union Territories, including Kerala , Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat . He urged party workers to use the process to strengthen booth-level networks and protect the party’s voter base ahead of future elections.
Expressing confidence in the party’s organisational strength, Sajjala said coordinated efforts and disciplined functioning would help YSRCP perform strongly in upcoming local body and general elections.
The meeting also focused on the current political situation in Andhra Pradesh . Sajjala directed party leaders to launch statewide protests over issues such as the weakening of the Aarogyasri Scheme , farmers’ problems and concerns in the healthcare sector.
He further asked party workers to aggressively promote the welfare initiatives introduced during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy through social and mainstream media platforms, while speeding up the verification of pending party committees across the state.
