Statewide Medical, Vaccination Camps Open for Pre-Hajj Health Certification
The government of Andhra Pradesh has launched mandatory health check-ups and vaccination camps for applicants preparing for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage . The statewide drive began on Saturday under the supervision of the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department , with officials confirming that the special medical camps will function until February 9 . Commissioner G. Veerapandian stated that the initiative ensures pilgrims meet required medical standards well before departure.
To make the process convenient, facilities have been arranged in government hospitals across multiple districts, allowing applicants to attend camps closer to their hometowns. Authorities said this decentralised system reduces travel burden and ensures smooth processing, as nearly 2,000 pilgrims from the state have applied for the sacred Hajj pilgrimage this year.
Officials clarified that health certification is compulsory. Every pilgrim must undergo preliminary examinations , and only those declared medically fit will receive the required vaccines. The vaccination process follows national Hajj health guidelines , typically covering protection against infectious diseases like meningitis and polio , which are closely monitored during international mass gatherings.
Authorities urged applicants to complete the process before the deadline, as failure to obtain medical clearance or maintain vaccination certificates may affect travel approval. These steps, officials stressed, are essential public health precautions to safeguard pilgrims throughout the journey.
