Stalin Targets Vijay Over Law and Order, Says Tamil Nadu ‘Soaked in Blood’
DMK president MK Stalin on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay over a series of crime incidents, alleging that the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated and people were increasingly concerned about their safety.
In a statement, Stalin accused the state government of failing to effectively address incidents of crime, including murders, and alleged that such incidents had been reported from different parts of Tamil Nadu.
“ Tamil Nadu is soaked in blood without any distinction of day and night,” Stalin said, while criticising the government over what he described as a worsening law and order situation.
The former chief minister also questioned whether police personnel were adequately conducting patrols to prevent crimes and ensure the safety of people.
Stalin also targeted the functioning of the ‘Singappen’ special force, questioning whether its personnel were devoting sufficient attention to women’s safety. He alleged that members of the force were showing interest in filming reels instead of focusing on their responsibilities.
The DMK chief said the incidents of crime indicated that the government needed to take the issue of public safety seriously and act without delay.
Vijay, who also holds the Home portfolio, must understand the seriousness of the situation, Stalin said, adding that the time for providing explanations had passed.
He urged the chief minister to move away from what he described as “ film shooting mode ” and concentrate on governance and maintaining law and order.
“Take action, please take action CM sir,” Stalin said, directly addressing Vijay.
The remarks come amid continuing political exchanges between the ruling dispensation and the opposition over governance and public safety in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin’s comments were allegations against the state government, and the statement did not provide a consolidated crime figure or an official assessment to substantiate his broader claim of a deterioration in law and order.
