SRMIST confers 15,000 degrees at 21st convocation

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), deemed to be university, Kattankulathur, celebrated its 21st Convocation Ceremony with grandeur, conferring 15,105 degrees, including 6,686 undergraduate, 7,938 postgraduate, 388 doctoral, 11 PG diploma, and 82 diploma degrees. This year, women continued to excel, with 55% of Ph.D. recipients and 75% of rank holders being female, especially standing out across agriculture programmes.

The convocation was graced by Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, as Chief Guest. Emphasising the role of knowledge in nation-building, he said, “Knowledge is the greatest power of all; it drives innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth. Transforming knowledge into wealth will define India’s future.” He reiterated the vision of an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat , aligning with the goal of making India the world’s third-largest economy.

Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM Ahmedabad, received the Honorary Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) for his outstanding contributions to science and technology. Addressing the graduates, he urged them to drive India’s transformation through innovation and integrity.

Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, Founder and Chancellor of SRMIST, presided over the event, while Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan presented the annual report. He highlighted SRMIST’s key achievements NAAC A++ accreditation , 11th rank in NIRF 2025 , 491 patents , 42 startups , and ₹108 crore in scholarships benefitting over 7,000 students.

Reflecting SRMIST’s inclusive spirit, two transgender students graduated this year. With students from over 65 countries, the university continues to be a beacon of diversity and excellence.
