Srishti Kiran Becomes World No. 1 In Under-13 Tennis Rankings
Continuing her rapid rise on the international junior tennis circuit, 13-year-old Indian tennis prodigy Srishti Kiran has climbed to the World No. 1 position in the Under-13 age group rankings , marking another major milestone in her young career.
The Bengaluru-based player achieved the feat after an exceptional run of form that included five consecutive ITF junior titles . She further strengthened her position by finishing runner-up at the J100 Guatemala tournament on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors circuit last week.
Srishti's impressive performances have also lifted her to a career-best ITF Junior ranking of No. 357 , making her the highest-ranked player globally among girls in the Under-13 category.
What makes the achievement particularly notable is that she reached the top despite competing in only eight ranking events , while rankings are calculated using results from up to ten tournaments. Two events were missed because of financial and logistical challenges, yet she accumulated enough points through her strong performances to secure the No. 1 spot.
Expressing her delight, Srishti said becoming World No. 1 in her age group was not something she had anticipated at the beginning of the year. She credited her coaches, family and support staff for helping her achieve the milestone.
The young player also reflected on her recent success, saying the run of five straight titles followed by another final appearance had boosted her confidence, while emphasising that she still has many areas of her game to improve.
Srishti's international campaign will now shift to Europe. Subject to gaining entry into the main draw, she is expected to compete in a prestigious J300 tournament in the United Kingdom , one of the leading junior events on the circuit and an important build-up competition ahead of the Wimbledon Junior Championships .
Currently preparing for the grass-court season, Srishti said the opportunity to play on grass and potentially compete at Wimbledon Juniors would be a dream and a valuable learning experience against some of the world's best junior players.
