Srikakulam To Be Developed As An Aqua Hub Says Minister Ram Mohan Naidu

Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday inspected the ‘Udaya Aqua’ industry being run under the aegis of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) at Mulapalem in Sompeta mandal of Srikakulam district. He visited the facility along with local MLA Dr Ashok and district officials.

During the visit, the Minister reviewed the ongoing activities of the project and sought detailed information on measures being taken to enhance fishery resources in the district .

He focused on the potential of the fisheries sector to increase income sources and expand employment opportunities in the region. The Minister stated that initial steps have been taken , in coordination with local public representatives, to develop Srikakulam as an aqua hub .

On the occasion, he directed officials to take up more projects under the NFDB in the district. Highlighting Srikakulam’s extensive coastline , he noted that effective utilisation of marine resources could generate substantial income and employment opportunities .

He assured fishermen that both the Central and State governments would extend full support in this direction.
