SRH's Blistering Five-Match Winning Streak Ends As KKR Demolish Sunrisers By 7 Wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s blistering five-match winning streak came to a grinding halt on Sunday as Kolkata Knight Riders dismantled them with a masterclass in spin bowling at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. KKR won by seven wickets with ten balls to spare , chasing down 166 with ease.

SRH won the toss and opted to bat, and for a while, it looked like business as usual. Travis Head flew out of the blocks, smashing boundaries off Vaibhav Arora in the second over and bringing up his half-century off just 22 balls . Sunrisers looked set for a big total, but then the innings unraveled quickly.

Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine turned the game on its head on a sluggish Hyderabad surface, sharing five wickets between them as SRH collapsed from 105 for 1 in the ninth over to 165 all out in 19 overs. It was the first time this season SRH were bowled out. Varun dismissed Head for 61 and later removed debutant R Smaran and Aniket Verma , while Narine reached a historic milestone, becoming the first overseas bowler and only the third overall to take 200 IPL wickets .

In reply, KKR came out all guns blazing. Finn Allen took the attack to Pat Cummins with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, helping KKR race to 71 in the powerplay before being dismissed. From there, Angkrish Raghuvanshi anchored the chase with a composed 59 off 47 balls , and Rinku Singh finished the job with the winning runs as KKR secured their third consecutive victory .
