A devastating road accident early Saturday morning near Palamaner in Chittoor district left three members of a family dead. A speeding car rammed into a stationary APSRTC bus on the national highway near Palamakulapalle, killing a couple and their three-year-old daughter within moments .

Police said the family, residents of Bengaluru, had hired a cab through an app for their journey. At around 6:40 a.m., an APSRTC bus from the Palamaner depot had stopped by the roadside to drop passengers. The car approaching from behind reportedly went out of control and crashed into the bus with great force, getting lodged underneath it. The front portion of the vehicle was completely mangled in the impact.

The husband, wife, and their young daughter, who were travelling in the car, suffered fatal injuries and died on impact. The driver sustained serious injuries , including fractures, and was rescued using a crane before being shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment .

Preliminary investigation suggests that driver drowsiness may have caused the accident. Police have registered a case and initiated a probe, while efforts are underway to confirm the identities of the deceased.

The mishap caused temporary traffic disruption on the highway. Officials have advised motorists to remain cautious, particularly while driving at high speeds and near halted vehicles on highways.
