Special Trains for Sankranti Announced by South Central Railway

In view of the upcoming Sankranti festival, South Central Railway (SCR) has announced special trains to facilitate safe and convenient travel for passengers returning to their hometowns. The initiative has been taken to reduce congestion on regular trains and to ensure easier ticket availability during the busy festive period.

The special trains will operate on the Secunderabad–Anakapalli route . Outbound services from Secunderabad to Anakapalli are scheduled on January 4, 11, and 18, 2026 , while return journeys from Anakapalli to Secunderabad will be available on January 5, 12, and 19, 2026 . Advance booking is scheduled to open from Sunday at 8:00 AM , according to railway officials.

Passengers have been advised to book tickets early and to refer to the SCR official website or authorized railway notifications for detailed timings and schedule updates. The special trains are expected to be especially beneficial for families traveling to their native places during the festival.

While the current announcement covers only the Secunderabad–Anakapalli route, festival specials for other busy routes, including Rayalaseema and other parts of Andhra Pradesh, are often scheduled closer to Sankranti . Travelers from regions such as Kadapa, Kurnool, and Anantapur are advised to monitor official announcements to stay updated on additional services.
