Special disability ID card center launched at Nalgonda government hospital

In a significant step toward supporting persons with disabilities, a new center for issuing Special Disability Identification (ID) Cards has been inaugurated at Nalgonda Government Hospital. The facility was officially opened on Wednesday by Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

Speaking at the launch, the minister highlighted that the new center will allow people with disabilities to obtain their ID cards quickly and transparently. “Gone are the days of long delays and repeated visits to multiple offices. Now, medical examinations, document verification, and card issuance will all happen under one roof,” he said.

Minister Venkat Reddy added that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities and ensuring they live with dignity. The center will help residents across the district access government welfare programs more easily.

The facility, set up under the Department of Disability Welfare, will offer comprehensive services. These include assessment of physical, mental, and visual disabilities, calculation of disability percentages, and the issuance of ID cards based on these evaluations. The minister emphasized that the center will serve as a one-stop hub for all disability-related services.

With this center in place, people with disabilities from Nalgonda and surrounding areas can receive certification and ID cards in a streamlined process. This will facilitate faster access to government benefits such as pensions, assistive devices, education, and job reservations. “Our goal is to create a society where every person with a disability can live independently and with self-respect,” Minister Venkat Reddy concluded.
