South Central Railway to run 11 more special trains for Sankranti rush

With a sharp rise in passenger travel expected during the Sankranti festival, South Central Railway has announced the operation of 11 additional special trains to manage the seasonal rush.

Railway officials said the decision was taken to reduce pressure on regular services and to provide smoother travel for passengers heading to their hometowns during the festive period. These special trains will connect major destinations across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The services will operate between January 8 and January 10 on key routes linking Kakinada Town, Vikarabad, Parvathipuram and Secunderabad. Trains will run on routes such as Vikarabad-Parvathipuram, Parvathipuram-Vikarabad, Parvathipuram-Kakinada Town, Secunderabad-Parvathipuram and Kakinada Town-Vikarabad.

The special trains will be equipped with First AC, Second AC, Third AC, Sleeper and Second Class coaches to cater to different categories of passengers. Railway authorities confirmed that ticket bookings are already open and advised passengers to reserve their tickets early, considering the high demand during the festival season.

This move is expected to provide significant relief to travelers and ensure a more comfortable journey during Sankranti.
