Sonia’s inspiration, Manmohan Singh’s vision will guide our governance: CM Revanth

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the inspiration of Sonia Gandhi, who played a decisive role in the creation of Telangana, and the foresight of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will continue to guide the Congress government in the state.

The Chief Minister made these remarks on Tuesday after unveiling “Telangana Thalli” statues installed at district collectorates across the state via video conference.

Revanth Reddy recalled Sonia Gandhi’s crucial contribution to the statehood movement, stating that Telangana was born out of the people’s long struggle and her commitment to fulfilling their aspirations. He noted that December 9 holds special significance in the history of Telangana, as it was on the same day in 2009 that then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram announced the Centre’s first formal statement on the formation of the new state. In recognition of this, the government has decided to observe December 9 every year as the “Telangana Thalli Statue Inauguration Day.”

The Chief Minister also referred to last year’s installation of the Telangana Thalli statue at the state secretariat on the same date, which also coincides with Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. He said that this coincidence holds sentimental value for him, his cabinet colleagues, and Congress leaders across the state. On the occasion of her 79th birthday this year, he urged the people of Telangana to remember her contributions with gratitude.

Revanth Reddy added that despite immense pressures and challenges, Sonia Gandhi kept her promise and ensured the formation of Telangana. He said the Congress government’s policies, welfare programmes, and development agenda will continue to reflect the ideals of Sonia Gandhi and the visionary leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
