Sonia Gandhi admitted to Delhi hospital, doctors report stable condition

Veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi remains stable and is under close medical supervision at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital, doctors and hospital officials confirmed on Wednesday, after she was admitted late Tuesday night. Hospital authorities said she reached the facility at around 10.22 pm following complaints of vomiting, nausea, and uneasiness , possibly triggered by recent weather changes.

In an official statement, Dr Ajay Swaroop , chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said: “She is stable. A team of doctors is closely monitoring her condition. Doctors are conducting further investigations to check for possible infection in the stomach and urinary tract, and antibiotics have been administered.”

Hospital sources clarified that her admission was largely precautionary rather than indicative of a serious underlying issue, and that there is no immediate cause for concern . They said a detailed assessment is in progress and further treatment decisions will be taken after reviewing ongoing test reports.

Reports also noted that Ms Gandhi’s children, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were present at the hospital , speaking with doctors and showing support as medical teams conducted assessments. Rahul Gandhi has reportedly adjusted his schedule, including cancelling a planned visit to Kerala, in view of his mother’s health situation.

This is not the first time Ms Gandhi has been hospitalised in recent months. She was earlier admitted in January 2026 for respiratory discomfort and bronchial asthma exacerbated by cold weather and pollution, and she received treatment before being discharged in stable condition.

At present, medical teams emphasise that Ms Gandhi is responding to treatment and remains under continuous observation, with her vital signs stable and under round‑the‑clock monitoring. They reiterated that the focus is ensuring her full recovery through close evaluation and appropriate care.
