Son of Andhra Pradesh BJP MLA arrested in Hyderabad drugs case
Sudheer Reddy, the son of Andhra Pradesh BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy, was arrested in Hyderabad for consuming cannabis, officials said on Saturday. Following the incident, he was taken to a de-addiction center for counseling.
The arrest came after the city’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) received information about drug use at a villa in Hyderabad. During a raid, three individuals were found at the location. Tests confirmed that Sudheer Reddy had consumed cannabis, while the other two were not involved in drug use, authorities said.
Officials also noted that Sudheer behaved aggressively during the raid. Afterward, he was escorted to a de-addiction center with the assistance of his family doctor. A senior police officer said, “He has been identified as a drug user. We will also involve his parents in counseling sessions.”
The BJP MLA has not yet commented on the incident. Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, criticized the case politically, claiming that Sudheer had previous links to a narcotics case.
