Somashila Eco Tourism Park Emerges as Major Attraction, Says Minister Jupally

With the objective of placing Telangana’s tourism sector on the global map , the state government is taking proactive steps. As part of this initiative, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao visited the Somashila Eco Tourism Park on Sunday. The minister personally took a boat ride from the Somashila shoreline to the eco park and admired the scenic beauty of the Krishna River from the viewpoint . He later inspected tourism facilities on the ground and offered several suggestions to officials for further improvement.

Minister Jupally said the Somashila–Srisailam reservoir backwaters are offering a refreshing new experience for nature lovers . He noted that the picturesque landscapes are drawing tourists in large numbers . The occasional sighting of wild animals such as tigers in the eco park area adjoining the forest has become a unique attraction. He added that Somashila is being developed to international standards to attract domestic and international tourists .

The minister also highlighted that Somashila is known not just as a tourist destination but as a spiritual centre . The presence of a cluster of 15 Shiva temples provides devotees with a distinct spiritual experience . For the convenience of tourists, the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation is operating special boating services from Somashila to Srisailam, lasting about five hours .

Minister Jupally further stated that Haritha and Mrugavani resorts provide excellent accommodation facilities. Nearby attractions such as Mallela Theertham, Paladhara and Panchadhara waterfalls are captivating visitors. He reiterated that showcasing Telangana’s tourism potential to the world remains the government’s primary objective .
