Social media should be her choice, says Varun Dhawan on daughter Lara

Actor Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal welcomed their daughter, Lara, on June 3, 2024. Since her birth, the couple has remained firm about protecting their child’s privacy and has consistently chosen not to reveal her face publicly, even more than a year later.

Varun addressed the topic during a recent Q&A session with fans on X, where he was asked when he plans to show his daughter’s face. The actor responded that he would rather leave that decision to Lara herself. He said social media should be her choice and not something he decides on her behalf, ending his reply with the hashtag #varunsays . Varun and Natasha have occasionally shared glimpses of family moments featuring Lara, but her face has always been hidden, either through angles or emojis. The couple has largely avoided public exposure for their daughter, reflecting a growing trend among celebrities to safeguard their children’s privacy.

Varun and Natasha, who tied the knot in January 2021 after several years of dating, announced their pregnancy earlier in 2024 with a heartfelt post that quickly went viral. They later introduced Lara to fans through a creative announcement video that featured their pet dog, Joey, welcoming the newest member of the family.

On the work front, Varun is gearing up for the release of Border 2, a war drama and sequel to the iconic 1997 film Border. The film stars Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh alongside Varun, and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo Pakistan war. Speaking about the project earlier, Varun said the film draws from the immense sacrifices made by soldiers during the war and aims to bring forward powerful and emotional stories from that period.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 also features Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa and Anya Singh in key roles. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T Series along with JP Dutta’s JP Films, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. Border 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on January 23.
