Smriti Mandhana reclaims top spot in ICC women’s ODI rankings

India’s Smriti Mandhana has returned to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, replacing South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt as the world’s leading batter . Mandhana’s rating stayed at 811 points, while Wolvaardt dropped from 814 to 806 after South Africa’s victory over Ireland.

The update followed a dominant performance by the Proteas in the East London series opener, where they chased down a target of 210 in just 37 overs. Sune Luus and Miane Smit starred with half-centuries , helping South Africa secure a comfortable win.

Sune Luus rose five places to joint 31st in ODI batting and 10 spots to 33rd among all-rounders. For Ireland, Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany were the big gainers. Prendergast moved to 10th in all-rounders and 34th in bowlers after taking 1/34, while Delany climbed to 16th in all-rounders and 67th in bowlers.

South Africa’s Tumi Sekhukhune impressed with two wickets, rising seven spots to 78th among ODI bowlers. Other Irish bowlers also made gains, including Arlene Kelly (up to 32nd) and Cara Murray (equal 49th).
