Slab Collapse in Visakhapatnam Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

A fatal accident was reported on Sunday in Visakhapatnam under the New Port police station limits, after a building slab collapsed during repair operations. The incident claimed one life and left two others seriously injured .

Officials said the structure , which once functioned as a photo studio, had gradually sunk by nearly two feet over time. To restore it, workers began lifting the building using hydraulic jacks. During this process, the slab suddenly collapsed, triggering the mishap.

A worker identified as Nageswara Rao from Gajuwaka was trapped beneath the rubble and died at the scene. Two other workers suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital , where they are currently undergoing treatment .

New Port Circle Inspector Kameswara Rao stated that the accident occurred while attempts were being made to elevate the structure. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the collapse.
