Actor Sivakarthikeyan , who is currently seen in the Tamil political action drama film ‘Parasakthi’ , on Wednesday addressed the controversy surrounding the movie, saying audiences who watch the film completely are understanding its message in the right way .

The actor made these remarks while attending a Pongal celebration at the residence of Union Minister L. Murugan . Extending his festival wishes, Sivakarthikeyan stressed the need to spread positivity among people.

Happy Pongal to everyone. Tamil people across the world are celebrating. Let positivity spread among us, ” he told ANI.

The visit comes amid objections raised by the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress , which had earlier sought a ban on ‘Parasakthi’ , alleging that the film distorts historical facts and maligns the Indian National Congress (INC) and its leaders.

Addressing the issue, Sivakarthikeyan asserted that there was “no controversy” surrounding the film and said its intended message was reaching audiences.

There is no controversy. People are understanding it and taking it in the right way. If they watch the film completely, they will understand, ” the actor said.

Actor Ravi Mohan , who also plays a key role in the film and was present at the event, said cinema should be viewed as a medium of entertainment and should not be dragged into political debates.

People will say whatever they think, but cinema is meant for entertainment. Let us leave politics out of it. The audience wants entertainment after all the stress they go through, ” Ravi Mohan said.

Written and directed by Sudha Kongara , Parasakthi stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela in prominent roles. The film is set against a strong political backdrop and focuses on Tamil Nadu’s resistance to Hindi imposition .

After facing several censorship-related hurdles , Parasakthi was released in theatres on January 10, 2026 .
