Singapore Eyes Semiconductor Investment Opportunities in Telangana

Telangana’s semiconductor ambitions received a boost after a high-level Singapore delegation expressed interest in exploring opportunities to establish semiconductor-related industries in the state. The delegation, led by Augustine Lee, met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday.

A delegation led by Augustine Lee, Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, met Revanth Reddy at his Assembly chamber and discussed the investment potential available across Telangana. The talks focused on industrial investments, emerging business opportunities and the state’s long-term development plans.

The Chief Minister explained the factors that make Telangana an attractive destination for investors and urged the Singapore delegation to consider investment opportunities in the state. He also sought Singapore’s financial support for Telangana’s development initiatives and assured the representatives that the state government would extend all necessary assistance to investors.

Revanth Reddy invited Augustine Lee to attend the ‘Invest Telangana’ Global Summit, which the state government plans to organise on a large scale in December. The summit is expected to provide a platform for presenting Telangana’s investment opportunities to global companies and institutions.

The Chief Minister also briefed the delegation on major urban transformation projects, including the Musi River rejuvenation programme and the Bharat Future City initiative. He said the first phase of the Musi project would cover the stretch from the confluence of the Musi and Esi rivers to Gandhi Sarovar. Alongside riverfront development, the government is also working on plans to strengthen Hyderabad’s night-time economy.

Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad was being developed not merely as a tourism destination but as a global knowledge hub with stronger international academic and business linkages. He highlighted plans to develop Bharat Future City as a net-zero city, aimed at supporting future-oriented industries and sustainable urban growth.

He also informed the Singapore delegation about interest from prominent global institutions, including Harvard, Oxford University, MIT and London Business School, in establishing offshore campuses in Hyderabad.

The Singapore representatives responded positively to Telangana’s investment opportunities and expressed particular interest in the semiconductor sector. The meeting was attended by government adviser K. Ramakrishna Rao, Dr Francis Chong, Senior Director for South Asia at Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore Consul General William Chik, and other officials.
