Siddipet may be my Karmabhoomi, says Kavitha

Telangana Jagruthi chief K Kavitha drew attention as she celebrated the Bathukamma festival in Chinthamadaka, the native village of BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao. During the celebrations, Kavitha took a subtle dig at her cousin and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao, hinting at ongoing tensions within the family and the party.

Speaking to the crowd, Kavitha suggested that there have been restrictions on her visits to Chinthamadaka. While she did not directly name anyone, she implied that Siddipet might become her “karmabhoomi” - a place where she could serve the people in the future. She called Chinthamadaka “private property” and reflected on her personal memories of visiting the village with her family over the years. Kavitha recalled the time in 2004 when KCR resigned as an agitating leader to contest as an MP, noting that since then, visiting Chinthamadaka or Siddipet felt like stepping into private territory.

Despite these alleged restrictions, Kavitha praised the villagers for coming together to celebrate Bathukamma. She emphasized that no restrictions could stop the celebrations or the connection people have with this land. “This land of Chinthamadaka gave birth to a cheetah, the land that gave birth to KCR,” she said, highlighting the historical importance of the village and its role in Telangana’s journey.

Kavitha also recalled the leadership of her father during the movement for Telangana’s statehood. She said that while Chinthamadaka is her “janmanbhoomi” (birthplace), it could also become her “karmabhoomi” in the future. With the blessings of the people, she added, anything is possible. “This is my birthplace, my mother’s home, and with your support, I can work for the people from here,” she said, addressing the villagers.

The tension between Kavitha and her cousin T Harish Rao has been building for some time. Earlier this month, Kavitha resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) after being suspended from the party. She accused Harish Rao and J Santosh Rao of trying to “destroy our family and party” in coordination with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Her remarks in Chinthamadaka appear to be a continuation of this criticism, mixing personal memories with political assertions.

Through her speech, Kavitha sent a clear message - despite family disputes and political restrictions, her roots in Chinthamadaka remain strong, and she may continue her public service from her ancestral land in the days to come.
