Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed officials to give top priority to public opinion in the ongoing district reorganisation exercise. The final notification on the creation of new districts and revenue divisions is scheduled for December 31 , following a review of all suggestions and objections from the public.

The state government had issued a preliminary notification on November 27, proposing the formation of three new districts and five revenue divisions. In a statement released by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Chief Minister said officials must carefully consider public feedback before finalising the reorganisation.

“Certain mandals may be reassigned to their original districts based on local suggestions, while some revenue divisions will be restructured to improve administrative efficiency and governance,” the statement added.

The Polavaram district will remain unchanged, with Rampachodavaram as its headquarters. Other changes, including the shifting of several mandals and creation of new revenue divisions, remain largely intact. Notably, five mandals in the Gudur Assembly constituency are proposed to join Nellore district following public suggestions.

Several key towns and mandals are at the centre of public discussion due to their administrative importance and local sentiment: Rayachoti : Now the headquarters of Annamayya district, formed from the erstwhile Kadapa district. Railway Koduru (Kodur) and Rajampet : Significant towns in Annamayya district, part of the Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency. Siddavatam and Ontimitta (Vontimitta): Currently in Kadapa district, these mandals are under consideration for transfer to Annamayya district’s Rajampet division, pending local feedback.

The final alignment of these mandals will affect local governance, revenue administration, and access to district headquarters , making public input a key factor in the decision-making process.

CM Naidu reiterated that the government is committed to transparent and inclusive administration , ensuring that citizens’ suggestions shape the final district reorganisation notification .
