SIA files chargesheet against Terror harbourer in Rajouri killing case

The State Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against an alleged terror harbourer in connection with the killing of a villager and the injuring of his soldier brother in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district in April 2024, officials said.

The chargesheet was submitted before a designated court against Sabar Hussain , a resident of Khabalwali in Shahdara Sharief who was later residing in Chamrer in the Surankote area of Poonch. He has been accused of providing active support to terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and its offshoot, The Resistance Front.

The case pertains to a brutal terror attack on April 22, 2024 , in Kunda village of Thanamandi, Rajouri. According to investigators, unidentified terrorists entered the victim’s residence and opened indiscriminate fire . Mohd Razaq was killed in the attack, while his brother, Tahir Khurshid alias Tahir Fauji, a Territorial Army personnel , sustained injuries.

Initially registered at Thanamandi Police Station, the case was later transferred to the SIA due to its sensitive nature and terror links . During the investigation, officials said, crucial evidence was recovered from the crime scene , and statements of key witnesses were recorded under relevant legal provisions.

Probe findings revealed that Hussain had allegedly provided shelter, food, and logistical support to three terrorists at his seasonal hut in Chamrer. Investigators believe this assistance played a critical role in facilitating the execution of the attack .

Based on the evidence gathered, authorities have invoked provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the accused. Officials stated that the filing of the chargesheet establishes a prima facie case and marks a significant step toward dismantling terror support networks operating in the region.

The SIA reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability and strengthening security mechanisms in Jammu and Kashmir, amid continued efforts to curb cross-border terrorism and local support structures .
