Shri Vishvajit Sahay assumes charge as controller general of defence accounts

Shri Vishvajit Sahay, a 1990-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), has taken charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), bringing with him over three decades of experience in defence finance and public administration.

An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi , Shri Sahay has held several important positions across key ministries of the Government of India. His career reflects a strong foundation in financial management, defence procurement, and policy formulation.

During his tenure, he has served as:

Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser , Department of Science and Technology

Joint Secretary , Department of Heavy Industry

Finance Manager (Acquisition Wing) , Ministry of Defence

Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions) , Prayagraj

Joint Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA)

Special CGDA in the Defence Accounts Department

In these roles, Shri Sahay contributed to strengthening financial oversight, streamlining defence procurement processes, and improving pension administration for defence personnel.

He has also represented India at several prestigious international training institutions, including Cambridge University (UK) and the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies (Germany) , underscoring his commitment to global best practices in defence finance and management.

With his vast administrative experience and technical expertise, Shri Vishvajit Sahay is expected to play a vital role in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the Defence Accounts Department .
