Shock Discovery at Foxconn Plant: Foetus Found in Toilet, Investigation Launched
Police have registered a case after a foetus was discovered in a women’s restroom at a facility operated by Taiwanese electronics major Foxconn in Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru, officials said on Thursday.
The incident came to light at the company’s unit in Doddagollahalli village , under the jurisdiction of the Vishwanathapura police station . According to police, the foetus was found in Building A41 of the sprawling manufacturing campus late on Tuesday, triggering an investigation.
Based on a complaint filed by V.S. Krishnaraj , a senior engineer in the company’s security department, a case has been registered under Sections 93 (concealment of birth) and 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The complaint states that the discovery followed what initially appeared to be a routine maintenance issue . On April 21 at around 9.15 pm , housekeeping staff reported a blockage in a women’s toilet. A supervisor alerted maintenance personnel, but as the technician’s shift had ended, the issue was scheduled for inspection the following morning after being escalated internally.
At approximately 9 am on April 22 , maintenance staff examined the blockage and found that it was caused by a foetus. Police were immediately informed , and the area was secured.
Investigators are now working to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances leading to the abandonment. Authorities said no angle has been ruled out at this stage.
In a brief statement, Foxconn said it is “closely cooperating with local authorities” and prioritising employee well-being, while declining further comment due to the sensitive nature of the case .
