She Refused to Back Down! India's Wrestling Star Neha Stuns USA Rival to Win Budapest Gold

Former U17 World Champion Neha continued her impressive rise on the international stage by winning the gold medal in the women's 59kg category at the prestigious Polyák Imre, Varga János & Kozma István Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament in Budapest , giving India another reason to celebrate on the global wrestling circuit.

Facing USA's Abigail E. Nette in a closely contested final, Neha displayed remarkable composure, tactical awareness and determination under pressure. The Indian wrestler held her nerve to register a 6-4 victory on points , securing the top spot on the podium and earning India's second gold medal of the tournament after Olympic bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat opened the country's account with a gold on the opening day.

India's successful campaign gathered further momentum in the women's 62kg category , where Mansi produced an impressive run to reach the gold medal bout. However, an unfortunate injury during the final against Canada's Ana P. Godinez Gonzalez forced her to settle for a well-deserved silver medal after an otherwise outstanding performance.

The celebrations continued with Savita , who claimed the bronze medal in the same weight division. She dominated Kazakhstan's Irina Kuznetsova with an attacking display, cruising to a convincing 14-5 victory in the bronze medal playoff.

With Neha's gold, Mansi's silver and Savita's bronze, India's overall medal tally has now climbed to eight , including two gold, two silver and four bronze medals , underlining the country's growing strength in women's wrestling at the international level.

The tournament now moves into the remaining women's weight categories while the Greco-Roman competition also gets underway. India's hopes will rest on Nishu (53kg), Neha Sharma (57kg), Deeksha Malik (72kg) and Priya (76kg) in the women's events, while Anil (72kg) , Rohit Bura and Kumar Sunil (87kg) will lead the challenge in the Greco-Roman division.
