Shape the future of Indian cinema: CMOT submission window closing
Aspiring filmmakers across India have a golden opportunity to showcase their talent as the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MoIB), rolls out the latest edition of its flagship initiative, Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT). The submission deadline is just two days away, on October 21, 2025.
The CMOT 2025 poster, shared on NFDC’s official X account, urges young creatives: “Your Chance Isn’t Over Yet! Submit Now, Before It’s Gone.” The visually striking graphic features a stylized figure with film-related icons like clapperboards and reels emerging from their head, along with the logos of NFDC, IFFI, and other partners. Interested participants can register via the displayed QR code.
Launched in 2022, CMOT is integrated into the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Asia’s premier film festival, which will take place this year from November 20–28, 2025 in Panaji, Goa. The initiative aims to discover, nurture, and promote young talent across 13 key film crafts, including directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, sound design, production and costume design, makeup, VFX, animation, music direction, choreography, and acting.
Selected participants gain access to masterclasses, workshops, and networking opportunities with industry veterans, with some works being showcased during IFFI. Previous editions have spotlighted over 75 young talents, many of whom have gone on to secure roles in feature films and web series.
Eligibility criteria include being between 18 and 35 years old, an Indian national or of Indian origin residing in India, and demonstrating creative potential through prior work. No formal film school education is required. Applicants must submit a portfolio, statement of purpose, and relevant sample works in English or recognized Indian languages, with translations if needed.
The initiative not only fosters skill development and exposure but also provides travel and accommodation support, making it accessible for emerging filmmakers nationwide. With the deadline fast approaching, aspiring participants are encouraged to scan the QR code or visit www.iffigoa.org to complete their submissions. As NFDC India highlighted on X, CMOT is a chance for young creatives to “showcase your vision, craft, and voice to shape the future of Indian cinema.”
