Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 61st birthday on November 2, receiving an outpouring of love from thousands of fans across the country. The occasion brought together heartfelt fan tributes, special celebrations and updates about his upcoming action entertainer 'King'.

Thousands of admirers gathered outside his Mumbai residence, Mannat, hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor. However, Shah Rukh skipped his traditional midnight balcony appearance this year as he was temporarily staying away from his Bandra residence. Instead, he surprised fans with a handwritten message displayed on a giant screen outside the bungalow.

"Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all," the note read, ending with "Lots of love and a big hug."

The celebrations reportedly included a private gathering at Mumbai's Taj Hotel, attended by family members and close friends, including his children, Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan. The actor later greeted waiting fans by waving and blowing flying kisses as he left the venue. Meanwhile, Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sea Link was illuminated with birthday greetings and pictures of the superstar. Fans also organised celebrations at a Juhu restaurant, cutting cakes and recreating his iconic open-arms pose.

The birthday celebrations coincided with the release of 'Tu Mil Jaaye', the first song from 'King', featuring Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone. The track features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, along with a rap by Ed Sheeran. Mannat was also illuminated with visuals and dialogues from the film, including "King Akela Kaafi Hai" and "Darr Nahi, Dehshat Hoon".

Beyond cinema, Shah Rukh's inspirational speeches at Yale University in 2012 and the University of Edinburgh in 2015 continue to resonate with audiences. His messages emphasised believing in oneself, accepting confusion, practising kindness, learning from failure and valuing genuine relationships. He reminded students that success alone does not provide wisdom; the ability to respond to failure helps people grow.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, 'King' marks his reunion with Shah Rukh after 'Pathaan' (2023). The film also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and several other actors. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026.

Shah Rukh's last theatrical release was Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' in December 2023.
