Shabad Six-Murder Accused Rajkumar Found Dead, Suicide Suspected

The man accused of carrying out the Shabad six-murder case was found dead on Monday, bringing an end to an intensive police search that had been underway for several days. P. Rajkumar (35) , the prime accused in the case, was found within the limits of Kothur Police Station in Rangareddy district , with investigators suspecting that he died by suicide after consuming pesticide.

According to police, Rajkumar's body was spotted by local residents, who alerted authorities through the Dial 100 emergency service. Officers rushed to the location and recovered a pesticide bottle near the body. The presence of foam around his mouth led investigators to suspect poisoning, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis. Family members later identified the body.

The case had shocked Telangana after Rajkumar allegedly killed six people on the night of July 10 in Daivalaguda village of Shabad mandal . Police allege that the victims included a minor girl , two of her family members, his wife, and his two children. Investigators said the victims were attacked with a knife and sustained multiple fatal injuries.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a criminal case registered against Rajkumar in May 2026 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act . Police said he had been accused of stalking and sexually harassing the minor girl, following a complaint lodged by her family. Investigators are examining whether the murders were carried out as an act of retaliation linked to the case.

Police further revealed that after the killings, Rajkumar allegedly called his father and informed him about the incident before saying he intended to take his own life. He then switched off his mobile phone, prompting his parents to alert the police.

Following the complaint, the Telangana Police launched a large-scale manhunt and formed 12 special teams to trace the accused. Search operations were carried out across multiple locations before his body was eventually recovered on Monday.

While the discovery of Rajkumar's body has brought the search operation to a close, the investigation into the six-murder case will continue. Police are awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports to establish the exact cause of death and complete the legal formalities connected with one of the state's most gruesome multiple-homicide investigations in recent years.
