Setback for Lahore Qalandars as Mustafizur Ruled Out, BCB Prioritises Fitness
In a significant setback for Lahore Qalandars , Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League 2026 after the Bangladesh Cricket Board withdrew his No Objection Certificate (NOC) citing fitness concerns.
The decision follows a medical review after the third ODI against New Zealand , where the board’s medical staff assessed the left-arm pacer’s condition. The BCB confirmed that Mustafizur will undergo an immediate scan before starting a structured rehabilitation programme, effectively ending his PSL campaign this season.
Mustafizur had been a steady presence for Lahore Qalandars , claiming six wickets in five matches , and his absence now leaves a noticeable gap in the team’s bowling unit at a crucial stage of the tournament.
This marks yet another interruption in his franchise commitments this year. Earlier, he was forced to exit the Indian Premier League 2026 after the Board of Control for Cricket in India directed Kolkata Knight Riders to release him.
In a parallel move, the BCB has also decided not to release young pacer Nahid Rana for the PSL, aiming to give him adequate preparation time ahead of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan .
The decisions clearly reflect the board’s priority on player fitness and national commitments , especially with a demanding international schedule ahead. Bangladesh will take confidence from their recent success, having secured a 2-1 ODI series win , reinforcing the importance of maintaining a fully fit squad.
