Serial burglar ‘Doremon’, associate arrested in Northwest Delhi: 11 Cases Solved

Police in northwest Delhi have arrested a serial burglar nicknamed “Doremon” along with his associate, officials said on Friday. The accused, identified as Dinesh alias “Doremon” (26) and Sunny (26) , were apprehended during a night patrolling operation o n March 11 near a government bank at Raja Park.

According to police, the patrolling team noticed two men behaving suspiciously while dragging a motorcycle. When officers approached them for questioning, the duo appeared nervous and tried to evade the police but were quickly intercepted.

During the search, a spring-actuated knife was recovered from Dinesh . The motorcycle in Sunny’s possession was later verified to have been stolen from the Ashok Vihar area, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akanksha Yadav* said that the arrest of the duo has helped police solve 11 criminal cases, including multiple burglary incidents reported in the area. Dinesh, known as *“Doremon,”* is listed as a “bad character” at *Ashok Vihar police station and has 17 previous criminal involvements. Sunny has one previous case related to a night burglary.

Police said Dinesh earned the nickname “Doremon” due to his peculiar way of scouting residential colonies and industrial areas to identify vulnerable targets before committing thefts. He was also known to mimic the voice of the popular cartoon character Doraemon from the Japanese manga series of the same name, police sources added.

During interrogation, both accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in a series of burglary incidents in the locality. Police said their arrest has led to the recovery of stolen property in four burglary cases.

Items recovered from them include a stolen motorcycle, plastic bags containing iron pipe fittings, steel taps, copper wires and tools such as a demolition hammer, grinder, hammer and cutter. Police said further investigation in the case is underway.
