
Senior CPM leader Samineni Rama Rao brutally murdered in Khammam
Tension has erupted in Telangana following the shocking murder of senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Samineni Rama Rao in Khammam district. Police reported on Friday that Rama Rao’s body was found with severe bleeding injuries.
According to officials, the incident occurred in the Patarlapadu village of Chintakani Mandal, under Chintakani police station limits, early Friday morning. Police immediately reached the scene to investigate.
Deputy CM orders strict action Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka expressed deep shock over the killing and condemned the act, stating, “There is no place for violent or dirty politics.” He assured that those responsible will not be spared and strict legal action will be taken.
The Deputy CM directed Khammam district police to ensure law and order and use all available resources - including clue teams, sniffer dogs, cyber teams, and modern technology - to apprehend the culprits immediately. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased leader’s family and assured the government’s support in all possible ways.
About Samineni Rama Rao Rama Rao had served as the Sarpanch of Patarlapadu village in Chintakani Mandal and was a well-known farmers’ leader. He worked closely with locals on issues like crop procurement, cotton prices, land disputes, and water scarcity. Rama Rao had been associated with the Communist movement for over 30 years and was recognized for his dedication to public service and grassroots activism.
Investigation underway The motive behind the murder remains unclear. Police are investigating all angles, collecting evidence, and reviewing CCTV footage. The body has been sent for post-mortem at the government hospital in Khammam. An FIR has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC (murder) at Chintakani police station.
Political reactions The killing has triggered strong reactions across political parties in Khammam. CPM leaders and workers condemned the act, calling it political violence and demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
Local BRS leaders also condemned the murder, suggesting it could be related to political rivalry or land disputes, while emphasizing Rama Rao’s dedication to public service and urging swift justice.
BJP Khammam district president Nelluri Koteshwara Rao criticized the incident, saying such murders are a result of the weakening of law and order in Telangana.
