Seized Explosives Explode in Police Custody, Four Officers Hurt

A serious accident occurred at Challapalli Police Station on Tuesday morning when a stockpile of seized explosives detonated unexpectedly, injuring four police personnel , including a Sub-Inspector .

Police said the explosives had been recently confiscated from illegal storage and were being kept at the station as evidence for an upcoming court case. On Tuesday morning, Court Constable Abdulla brought them out to prepare for submission to the court. While attempting to photograph the explosives, they suddenly exploded.

Constable Abdulla suffered severe injuries in the blast, while Sub-Inspector Durganjaneyulu sustained minor injuries. Head Constable Teja and driver Nagaraju were also hurt. Fellow officers immediately rushed the injured to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

Krishna District SP Vidyasagar Naidu said that due to the seriousness of his condition, Abdulla was transferred to Vijayawada for specialized medical care. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the cause of the explosion.
