Second Phase Of Indiramma Housing Scheme To Begin From June 2 In Adilabad
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday said the state government has been awaiting the release of funds from the Centre since March for the Indiramma Housing Scheme being implemented by the Telangana government. He said the Centre was expected to provide around Rs 1.13 lakh per house , and the state had temporarily withheld the final instalment bills payable to beneficiaries in the hope that the funds would be released. However, he made it clear that if the Centre failed to respond within the next 15 to 20 days , the state government itself would bear the expenditure.
Addressing the media, the minister said the Centre had not sanctioned even a single house for rural areas so far. He stated that the issue had been brought to the notice of the Union government several times along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy .
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that in the first phase, more than 3.5 lakh Indiramma houses had been sanctioned across the state, of which around 1.32 lakh houses had already been completed. He added that slab works in another 68,000 to 72,000 houses were expected to be completed by the end of June. The minister announced that the second phase of the Indiramma Housing Scheme would be launched in Adilabad on June 2 .
He further said the government was also considering extending the scheme to partially constructed houses. Houses where only the basement, walls, or slab work had been completed may also be brought under the Indiramma housing scheme, he said. A decision on the number of houses to be allotted to each constituency would be taken at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for May 21 , he added.
The minister also announced that land prices in the state would be revised by the end of this month. Stating that land values in certain areas were not in line with prevailing market prices, he said the government would rationalise them scientifically. He criticised the previous government for increasing land prices in an unscientific manner.
On incomplete 2BHK housing projects , Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government was taking steps to complete the pending works. Since contractors were unwilling to come forward, the government had decided to release the remaining funds directly to beneficiaries and get the works completed through them.
He also said officials had been directed to ensure the free local availability of sand and soil required for the construction of Indiramma houses.
The minister noted that a majority of applications received during the Praja Darbar programme were related to Indiramma houses, Dharani land issues, Aasara pensions, and ration cards .
