SECL Steps Up E-Waste Management Drive Under Special Campaign 6.0

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has intensified preparations for Special Campaign 6.0, with activities planned across its operational areas in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, according to the Ministry of Coal.

The campaign, being organised under the aegis of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), will focus on cleanliness, systematic disposal of scrap, e-waste management, environmental sustainability and workplace practices.

SECL has appointed nodal officers across its operational areas to coordinate campaign activities, monitor progress and facilitate timely implementation of the planned initiatives.

E-waste management will be a key focus of the campaign. SECL is preparing measures for the identification, segregation and systematic disposal of e-waste across its offices and operational establishments.

The preparations are being undertaken in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Coal. During a recent field visit to SECL’s Kusmunda Mine in Korba, Ministry of Coal Joint Secretary Sanjiv Kumar Kassi reviewed preparations for Special Campaign 6.0 with senior officials.

Kassi emphasised effective implementation, measurable outcomes and greater participation in the campaign, according to the ministry.

SECL is also preparing a day-wise action plan covering cleanliness drives, identification and disposal of scrap, e-waste management, plantation activities and other initiatives related to workplace practices.

During Special Campaign 5.0 last year, SECL ranked first among all coal Public Sector Undertakings in scrap disposal and area cleaning.The company said Special Campaign 6.0 will cover cleanliness, environmental responsibility, waste management and workplace practices across its operational areas.

The campaign will involve employees and other stakeholders in the planned activities, the Ministry of Coal said.SECL operates across coal-producing areas in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, where the campaign activities will be carried out.

The focus on e-waste comes as part of the broader campaign activities covering cleanliness and systematic disposal of waste and scrap.SECL’s nodal officers will coordinate the activities and monitor their implementation across the operational areas during the campaign.
