SCR Sports Recruitment 2025: Application window closes tonight for Athletes

South Central Railway’s Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Secunderabad, is set to close its online application process today, November 24, for the Sports Quota recruitment 2025-26. Eligible sportspersons (aged 18–25) must apply by 11:59 PM tonight to be considered for 61 vacancies in Group C and Group D posts, with opportunities in a wide range of disciplines like athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cricket, cycling, gymnastics, kho-kho, powerlifting, volleyball, weightlifting, hockey, archery, handball, and kabaddi. Applicants need to meet both educational (10th/ITI or 12th depending on the post) and sports achievement norms, as outlined in the official notification. The selection process involves three stages application scrutiny, sports trials, and document verification. Candidates must first pass document verification, after which they take part in sports trials assessing their game skills, physical fitness, and ability to represent the Railway team. Qualifying candidates in the trials are then graded based on sports achievements, educational qualifications, and overall merit out of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 65 for Level 3 (Grade Pay ₹2000), 60 for Level 2 (₹1900) and Level 1 (₹1800) posts.

Unlike typical written exams, the syllabus focuses on sports performance, achievements, and technical proficiency in the relevant discipline. Candidates are judged on parameters set for national and international participation, medals, rankings, and are required to present valid documentation/certificates of achievement, which are verified during the recruitment process. There is no traditional subject-based written exam. Shortlisted candidates must attend sports trials with original certificates and documents, including educational, birth, caste, income, and sports credentials.

The application fee is ₹500 for general and OBC candidates, with ₹400 refunded after attending the trials. The fee is ₹250 for SC, ST, women, minorities, and economically backward classes, with ₹250 refunded post-trials. All payments are online and candidates seeking exemption/refund must upload the relevant certificates at the time of application.

As today is the final day to apply, sportspersons interested in a railway career should act immediately and submit their applications before the deadline. The RRC emphasizes that selections are strictly merit-based and cautions against dealing with intermediaries or touts. This recruitment drive could be a breakthrough for talented athletes seeking a stable government job and a platform for furthering their sporting career.
