Scottie Scheffler Reclaims His Dominance With Record Eight-Shot FedEx St. Jude Victory

Scottie Scheffler returned to his dominant best on Sunday, ending a nearly seven-month wait for victory with a commanding eight-shot win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and making the strongest possible start to the PGA Tour postseason.

Scheffler closed with a 4-under 66 to finish at 17-under 263, recording the largest winning margin in the tournament's 68-year history at TPC Southwind. The victory was his 21st PGA Tour title and second of the season.

Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, Scheffler briefly saw his advantage reduced after an unfortunate incident on the par-5 third. His bunker shot struck a sprinkler head, bounced away and rolled into the water, forcing him to settle for bogey.

But the setback barely lasted.

Scheffler responded with consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth holes, quickly restoring his control. Playing in the final group in intense heat and the strongest winds of the week, he matched the day's best score and pulled further away from the field.

Si Woo Kim finished second at nine-under after a final-round 68, while Sam Burns and Alex Noren shared third. Burns, playing alongside Scheffler in the final group, admitted his friend was simply too difficult to beat.

The victory ended an unusual spell for Scheffler. Despite remarkable consistency throughout the season, he had won only once before Sunday, at The American Express. He now has two victories, five runner-up finishes and five other top-four results this year.

Scheffler earned $3.6 million from the tournament purse and secured an additional $23 million FedEx Cup bonus for remaining No. 1 heading into next week's BMW Championship.

The win also completed two milestones: TPC Southwind was his most-played course without a victory, while the FedEx Cup playoff opener was the only postseason event he had not previously won.

The performance further strengthens Scheffler's bid for a fifth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year award, with two playoff events still remaining.
