SCCL Invites Applications for Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham Scheme

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has announced the continuation of its Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham Scheme , a flagship initiative aimed at supporting Telangana’s Civil Services aspirants with financial assistance during their preparation for the UPSC examination.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. N. Balaram Jyothi stated that eligible candidates from Telangana who have qualified in the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and are preparing to appear for the Main Examination will receive financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each under the scheme. Aspirants have been invited to submit their applications online, and assistance will be provided after verification of eligibility.

Dr. Jyothi said the initiative is designed to encourage talented youth from Telangana to pursue careers in the Civil Services and contribute to public service at both the state and national levels. He noted that the programme was introduced as part of SCCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, in line with the Telangana government’s objective of increasing the representation of the state’s youth in prestigious administrative services.

The scheme was launched in 2024 by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka .

Highlighting the programme’s impact, SCCL said that during the 2024 Civil Services examination cycle, 140 candidates who cleared the Preliminary Examination received ₹1 lakh each. Of them, 20 candidates advanced to the interview stage and were granted an additional ₹1 lakh each as special support. Ultimately, seven candidates secured selection into the Civil Services .

The scheme expanded further last year, benefiting 206 aspirants , of whom 50 reached the interview stage . In the final results, 20 candidates were selected for Civil Services positions .

According to SCCL, a total of 346 Civil Services aspirants have received financial assistance under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham Scheme over the past two years, reflecting the programme’s growing role in nurturing Telangana’s future administrators and public servants.
