Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court's decision to continue the previously granted environmental clearances for the Gouravelli, Palamuru-Rangareddy, and Seethamma Sagar irrigation projects. Following the verdict, the minister met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at his residence and conveyed his gratitude.

Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar said the favourable judgment was the result of the state government's determined legal efforts to safeguard Telangana's interests. He credited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with consistently monitoring the issue from the outset and ensuring that the government pursued every possible legal and administrative avenue.

The minister noted that the state government maintained continuous coordination with the Central Government while also appointing senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi to present Telangana's case before the Supreme Court. According to him, the government's strong legal representation and strategic approach played a significant role in securing the ruling in the state's favour.

He said the verdict is expected to accelerate work on the Gouravelli, Palamuru-Rangareddy, and Seethamma Sagar irrigation projects, which are considered crucial for Telangana's long-term water security and agricultural development.

Once completed, these projects are expected to provide irrigation to lakhs of acres of farmland, while also helping meet the drinking water needs of people across several regions of the state. The minister said the projects would not only strengthen the agriculture sector but also contribute to the overall development of rural Telangana through improved water availability and infrastructure.

Ponnam Prabhakar also commended the Chief Minister for the government's sustained legal battle and proactive efforts to protect the state's rights. He said the Supreme Court's verdict marks an important milestone for Telangana's irrigation sector and paves the way for faster execution of major water infrastructure projects.
