Saudi bus tragedy: 38 relatives arrive in Jeddah

A team of 38 relatives of victims has arrived in Jeddah to provide support and assist with formalities following the tragic bus fire in Saudi Arabia. The accident occurred near Madinah when a bus collided with an oil tanker and caught fire.

Local sources reported that at least 45 Indian nationals lost their lives in the incident, most of whom were pilgrims from Hyderabad. However, the Delhi government has put the number at 42. According to officials, the victims’ last rites are expected to take place on Friday, after DNA profiling and official clearance from Saudi authorities.

A Telangana government team, led by Minister Mohammad Azaruddin, is on the ground in Saudi Arabia to coordinate with local authorities and oversee the repatriation and funeral arrangements.

The sole survivor of the accident, Mohammad Abdul Shoaib, is currently receiving treatment at the Saudi German Hospital in Jeddah, having escaped the tragedy unharmed.

MP Asaduddin Owaisi also commented on the incident, saying he spoke with Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Suhel Ajaz Khan on Wednesday. The ambassador, currently in Madinah, is working with Minister Azaruddin and Saudi officials to expedite all necessary procedures. Additional relatives of the victims are expected to travel to Madinah, with the entire process being directly monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
