Saudi Arabia enters International T20 arena

In a landmark move, Saudi Arabia has officially entered the world of cricket through a strategic partnership with the International League T20 (ILT20). Under the agreement, all six ILT20 franchises are required to include at least one Saudi player in their squads, opening doors for local talent to compete on an international stage.

The Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) has recognized the DP World ILT20, sanctioned by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), as an official T20 league for both men and women. As part of the collaboration, future ILT20 matches are expected to be hosted in Saudi Arabia, marking a major step in the country’s cricket development.

Speaking on the partnership, ILT20 Chairman Khalid Al Zarooni said, “Saudi Arabia is a key country in the Gulf region. Their commitment to developing cricket is truly inspiring.” SACF Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud called the partnership “a milestone in our journey to grow cricket domestically.” ILT20 CEO David White added that the collaboration is “a crucial step for promoting cricket across the Gulf.”

ILT20 Season 4 is set to begin on December 2, 2025, with the final scheduled for January 4, 2026, featuring 34 matches. Cricket stars including Dwayne Bravo, Jonathon Trott, and David Warner are expected to participate, adding international appeal to the league.

This partnership not only provides Saudi players with a platform to showcase their skills but also signals the kingdom’s growing influence in global cricket.
