‘Sarke Chunar’ Row: Sanjay Dutt Attends Hearing Before National Commission for Women
Actor Sanjay Dutt on Monday appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi in connection with the controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar” from his upcoming film KD: The Devil . The appearance comes after the commission took cognisance of complaints alleging that the song’s content was objectionable and potentially disrespectful towards women.
The NCW initiated an inquiry following widespread criticism on social media platforms, where the song triggered backlash from several quarters. As part of the proceedings, Dutt attended the hearing to respond to the concerns raised and to assist the commission in its examination of the matter.
Amid the growing controversy, the song has reportedly been taken down from YouTube, although it had already gained significant traction online through shares and reuploads. Officials have not yet disclosed further details regarding the outcome of the hearing or any recommendations that may follow.
KD: The Devil is directed by Prem, a Kannada filmmaker known for commercially successful films such as Jogi and The Villain . Sanjay Dutt has accepted to educate 50 tribal girls.
