SARGAM 2025: Indian Navy’s musical tribute, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan chief guest

Deputy Chief Minister Sri Pawan Kalyan, as the chief guest, attended the ‘SARGAM 2025 – Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra’ program, held at the Samudrik Auditorium, Visakhapatnam. “Sargam” is a term from Indian classical music representing the fundamental notes Sa‑Re‑Ga‑Ma‑Pa‑Dha‑Ni, symbolizing melody, harmony, and unity, an apt metaphor for the Navy’s efforts to connect tradition, culture, and national pride. This event, organized by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), was a prelude to the Navy Day celebrations scheduled for December 4, 2025.

Upon arrival at Visakhapatnam Airport, Sri Pawan Kalyan was warmly welcomed by senior Naval officers including Rajneesh Sharma and Kishore, legislators Konathala Ramakrishna, Vamsi Krishna Yadav, Sundarapu Vijay Kumar, Panchakarla Ramesh, along with district officials and public representatives. He then proceeded to the Shaurya Guest House at ENC, where he also met with Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi. At the naval premises, Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla and his wife, Mrs. Priya Bhalla, received him.

The SARGAM 2025 performance showcased the Eastern Naval Command Symphony Band’s extraordinary talent. The program opened with a vibrant xylophone duet titled “Two Imps,” followed by a grand orchestral rendition of The Lion King, complete with choreography inspired by the African savannah. The evening also featured Indian classical fusion pieces inspired by Vande Mataram, Bollywood medleys, and Michael Jackson’s Heal the World, emphasizing patriotism, environmental consciousness, and global harmony. The concert culminated in a majestic “Tri‑Services Marching Medley,” weaving together signature tunes of the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force, and concluding with the patriotic anthem Saare Jahan Se Achcha. The program, directed by Band Director Satish Champion and Deputy Director Pradeep Kumar, left the audience spellbound, highlighting both musical excellence and national pride.

During the event, Sri Pawan Kalyan presented a “Lion King” music memento to Sharath Kumar Singh Babu, while Vice Admiral Bhalla presented a Token of Remembrance to the chief guest. The program also saw the participation of Sri Pawan Kalyan’s son, Akira Nandan.

Navy Day 2025 holds special significance as India’s naval forces continue to expand at an unprecedented pace. This year, eight new multi-purpose ships have been commissioned, including the P15B destroyer INS Surat, the P17A stealth frigate INS Nilgiri, and the P‑75 submarine INS Vaghsheer. The Indian Navy is currently commissioning an average of one indigenous vessel every 40 days, highlighting India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence production.

The Navy’s grand Navy Day celebrations on December 4, 2025, will include an operational demonstration at Shanghumugham Beach, Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing coordinated manoeuvres by frontline ships, submarines, and aircraft. The display emphasizes the Navy’s capabilities across surface, sub-surface, and aerial domains, while underscoring India’s growing maritime strength and strategic presence in the Indian Ocean Region. Cultural outreach remains a key component of the Navy’s public engagement. Pre-events like SARGAM 2025 in Visakhapatnam, school visits by naval personnel, and exhibitions highlighting indigenous shipbuilding and maritime heritage strengthen ties between civilians and the armed forces.

Sri Pawan Kalyan’s participation as chief guest at SARGAM 2025 underscores the state’s support for India’s maritime forces and emphasizes the cultural and civic dimensions of Navy Day celebrations. While he did not deliver an official speech at the event, his presence highlighted the importance of public‑naval engagement and the celebration of India’s naval heritage.
